Re: Cornflake Wash
Decided to have a go at this last night, 1kg Frosties with 3kg white sugar. The SG came out a little higher than I'd calculated so I watered it down to 24 litres instead of Odin's 20, got the SG down to 1.06 from something ridiculous when I first stirred it all together. Added a tsp of citric to get the pH down & a tsp of yeast nutrient...then remembered cereals have added Vits, will it matter?
I also had a slight yeast disaster, all my bakers went into a batch of cachaca a few days ago & all I had left was a single sachet of ale yeast
I rehydrated & pitched when it got down to 20° but there was no sign of life after an hour & I needed my bed. Hopefully it will have woken up by now, I'll check when I get home from work. My luck will b its exploded out the airlock & filled the cupboard with foam, fingers crossed for a happy ferment
