would this be ok for a small boiler

iv got a friend that wants a small still building and likes the boiler on the t500 .and i like the fact this one has a lockable lid .
and temp comtrol.

6.8 Litres is definatly too small. By the time you have left a head space for foaming washes, even the 20 Litre version is on the small size.

They may have a locking lid but you will still need to seal it and mechanically clamp the lid somehow.

The temperature controls on the boilers are of no use to you. They are thermostats and will cycle on and off making it impossible to maintain a boil. The first thing most people including me have done, was to remove the "temperature controller" and throw them in the bin.

i thought they may make it easyer but it turns out it's not that easy

Not necessarily, there are bigger tea urns available, keep a look out on e-bay and gumtree for a second hand one, they come up very regularly. Thats how I got mine.

but if these are no good becouse of the thermostate would it be any good on a biger version?

The thermostats can easily be removed / bypassed / discarded. It seemed a shame to start hacking away at a new boiler, which is one of the reasons I went for a second hand one, the other reason was it was cheap.

if i bypass the thermostate would i still need a controler ?

iv posted one on here thats a 30l boiler but it's pick up only

i think i may change to a keg if i can find one as
the burner is only £25 from fleabay
and iv all ready got a tank of propane .

is there anyware i can get a still spirits boiler from just on it's own as isee a conpany selling there own style boka on a 10l boiler that was the same as the t500 boiler .m

You are taking some keeping up with. You have changed from small tea urns to big tea urns to stock pots to T500 full size to T500 10 litre to Kegs. From thermostats to power controllers to propane burners. All within a couple of days.

Yes they are all alternatives and yes, you can make a boiler using most of them.

The choices and combinations are endless and usually come down to what spirits you want to make, material availabilty, price, building skills, workshop equipment and space available. I can remember going through the same selection process and changing my mind as many times as you.

hi ybh yeah sorry about that it's becouse im like a kid in a sweet shop when im exited about doing things .

workshops not a problem skill level is above average and money is'nt to much of a problem all tho i do like to get things as cheap as possible .

the small one was for a friend so not really that fussed ill make one from a stock pot for them .

but mine im going to be using it for just good old plain spirit like vodka or white whiskey if i can find a good old barrel.

i started of wanting to make a table top still like the t500 but i think if i carnt find a good quality boiler i may change it to the gas burner and keg .
