Hi guys,

Have just set my second wash off, though the temp was 20 degrees when I added the triple Distilled Turbo Yeast that I had - is that too low?

I digress though, I was looking to do another wash, to start in a couple days time so to stagger a bit, Is there a better recommended yeast/carbon/clear to use
rather than the SS one for the Air Still?

Thanks again for the continued support :)

I love vodka star
They do their own turbo clear probably wise to employ if using an airstill. ;)

Is there a carbon that I use too?

Will my HBS know the right clear to use with it?

Thanks for the help :)

No it doesn't use carbon seems to ferment out quite clean
I use the weird sparkaloid finings but only because my kits more tolerant
Any good turbo clear finings should do (ieSS stuff etc) for the airstill
If it doesn't taste right just distill again whatever the improvement in quality is massive when you do this as I have learnt ;)

No Carbon required with Vodka Star - it ferments very cleanly. ;)

If using a clearing agent with VS you could try Alcotec Turbo Clear but make sure you degas properly or it won't work too well.

+1 for Vodka Star, just done a run with the T500 and no filtering required. I never use carbon in the wash either, too much faff cleaning up! I just used standard Turbo Klar on it and it worked fine.

essencia super 6 is the one i would choose doesn't need carbon and distills very clean tasting if you only use 5kg sugar. Also the tomato paste wash (birdwatchers) is very easy cheap and clean.

Using Airstill so will need to filter :) even if its with the crappy supplied one ;)

I'll be popping to HBS tomorrow, and will try the Vodka Star :)

thanks guys

@billmcc at this stage, I dont really want to go outside of the bought wash processes tbh while Im still getting to grips with it all :)

Vodka Star is definitely the cleanest fermenting turbo I've tried, think most around here would agree. You can obviously get cleaner still with a non-turbo brew but as you said, one step at a time! :)
