mild sour smell

Racked off a sweet-feed wash earlier and it seems to have a slight sour smell.could this be that i added to much Dap nutrient it seemed to stick at 101 last week so i added 2 spoons of Dap an gave it a dam good stair up.it finished at 998 I will strip it in a couple a days i was going to do a second run but not sure now.

If its a smell like sour milk or yogurt then it's probably a lacto infection from the grain. The alcohol will kill it off.
I intentionally let my corn get infected before fermenting it to do a sour mash, it adds a great flavour. So if it is a laco infection it's nothing to worry about.

Cheers for for the help CC. That's just what it smells like will it be Ok to start a second run on this mash or would you start a new batch alan

A good sour culture can be great for the flavour, maybe after you run the first lot you can decide if you like that, or want to go from something a bit cleaner.

Some of my best rum or grain washes smell very sour and funky going in to the still, but turn out good in the end. Let us know how it goes.
