This morning I went to my workshop where I had left the nuked spirits and found the jar like this..

Filtering with cotton wool and wine filter paper removed the sediment that had settled out from the spirit and left if crystal clear again. Surprisingly, the flavour and mouthfeel have not suffered at all - go figure!
From this I am now convinced that the original spirit strength was too high to put through the process and would recommend no higher ABV than 62.5% as also recommended by pintoshine on MD and other forums.

In my latest post on this subject, on June 3, I showed a pic of three jars of White at 62.5% that had been nuked with different amounts of JD chunks and the finished products were clean and clear after filtering off the wood.
On Wednesday morning I checked on the jars again and all three had again become cloudy with a sediment in the bottom of the jars.
It had been suggested to me, somewhere, that this may have been due to dissolved solids in the neutral that precipitated after
nuking so I nuked a new jar of the White from the same batch to test this theory.
I put it through exactly the same process as the three jars in the pics and no sediment, no precipitation of any kind and the White is still as crystal as it was when it went in.
For this reason I am at a loss to understand why this is happening other than to conclude that it must be down to something from the JD Chunks reacting to the
nuking process.
The JD chunks used were from different bags in the two cases. As Ireland is such a small market, it is conceivable that the actual chunks I used could have come from the same imported batch of bags and therefore the same batch of barrels but that may be clutching at straws.
If anyone has a more plausible explanation I'd love to hear it and maybe find how to avoid this happening again
