Watched this very interesting prog on BBC2 last night, you can watch it on the BBCIplayer ,they were making clay tiles to repair a roof,in order to dry the tiles they made a kiln that needed to be lit for a couple of days,anyhoo they actually showed them distilling some cider ,the kln was that hot they put a pot on top and distilled the cider,the guy said his father had done it during the war,it was one of the perks of doing that job,also they didnt throw away foreshots etc,(well not that I saw).
