Mushy peas...yes or no.??
We love to do our own mushy peas, soak overnight, then slow cook the next day. With fresh fish & chips, all home cooking.
I tried to be normal once, worst two minutes of my life.

Seriously? You colonized India and you are still eating this?
Unless you are making something different than what I found in Google, put me down for a resounding Hell No.
Do this instead with them:

Love Indian food, not Take-Away, but homecooked by my own fair hands
But I still love Mushy Marrowfat Peas, not from a tin or a chippie but soaked overnight and simmered gently until tender with a little salt and butter Mmmmmm!
Just checked out Googles images of MushyPeas...
not the real thing.

I've made Tarka dal Chuck when I do an Indian meal....but different pulses, yellow slip peas are not marrowfat peas which are used for..mushy peas.
AM +1 with the salt & butter....also a dash of white wine vinegar...
Anavrin I've know of parched peas for years but never got around to trying them..
found this recipe Here will have to try them now.
Cheers Lads.

Where I was born,Nottingham, mushy peas are traditionally and tastily served with Mint sauce.
The annual local Goose Fair,(big event) used to boast many stalls selling mushy peas, with help yourself mint sauce.
These days I favour plain malt vinegar, battered fish and just sometimes,a few chips,(fries to non-UK people).
It remains, for me a traditional Friday night supper.
Although these days I HAVE to cook it myself.
In the Midlands it still seems possible to find a chippie that has the old options of, gravy, curry sauce, baked beans or mushy peas.
Get yourself inside the M25 or North of Gretna, and you lose that take-away culinary delight.
I cannae fry fish like my favourite chippies, but it doesn't stop me trying.
Robert.
