Bendable heating elements.

I found this site
Here a long time back when I was building my first boiler for brewing. I've hung onto the url just in case..
you never know when you may need a bendable...
I was just wondering if any of you guys had ever used anything like this??? I can see that they may be helpful in my new build. If a 3kw was fitted and run through a power controller, start off with it on full then turn it down to run the still???

2.5m for the 3kw one, should be quite a low watt density which is good for our application. Ice if you are putting a 3" column on it, you wont need to turn it down. 3Kw is probably slightly under powered for that size of column.

You might want to build your own reusable element boss to use those element rods. If you do you may find a few ideas here.

I've not used any of the elements yet gaert, I was interested if anyone else had used them...I think them may be the dogs doodars for what I want tho.

I use the conventional 2.25" elements in a 100 litre keg, but if I was converting a 50 litre one I would be using these elements with a home built boss/mount.
If you want to build a 30 litre keg boiler these are probably your best option.

I bought some from RS several years ago. Used them to heat veg oil for biodiesel. The low watt density was what attracted me to them. A hand held small bore pipe bender works with them. I don't remember the price except it was suprisingly reasonable for RS and you buy them in sets of three. Never had a problem with them despite the oil being a demanding fluid regards potential crud build up they never burned out.

i have an 8ft 3kw element in the spares box part of a biab beer brewer on wheels stalled project due to the cost of a 1.125 inch SS tube fittings.. the suggested way to fit is with supplied brass compression fittings 3/8" bore, another brewer on thbf used one with 10mm ss fittings iirc and got into all sorts of problems, bending close to the ends isnt advised, and afaik the sheaf is incolly so ok with spirits
