Unknown problem

Postby Dynamic » Thu Jun 29, 2017 6:23 pm

Oke guys...

This is weird, I've started 2 times and it failed both times.
This is what happens:
Heating up -> Start water pump -> Boiling -> water outlet temp goes from 20.5 until 41 degrees -> Device switched off...
2 times I didnt collect any spirit.

The first time there was quite a lot active carbon in my wash, so I cleaned it. This time I saw a very little carbon, can this be the problem? I think the lower temperature increases so much that the security is turned on. (125°C if I'm right).

Someone who knows this problem?

You mean like more details?

I used the pure turbo yeast with the liquid active carbon and turbo clear, after the fermentation has ended and I used the trubo clear. I poured my wash into the boiler. I started the boiler, after 20 minutes I started the water (First time without T500 water flow regulator) at 500ml per minute (water: 20-21 ° C). After 1 hour I reduced the water to 400 ml per minute because of temperature not rising, of course the temperature rose enormously to 70 ° C +, 2 seconds later the boiler stopped heating, I did not get him started for the first 12 hours.

I poured my wash back into a bucket and looked at the inside of the boiler: everything okay. But my wash was darker than it should be. There was still activated carbon in it, a lot, a layer of 0.5cm thick. I then filtered this out of it.

I poured my wash back into the boiler and left for 2 days. After 2 days there was a very small layer of black/grey on the bottom, activated carbon... I stirred it a bit so it would lay down on the bottom and decided to do the run.

Now the same thing happened again: Power on, warming up, start water after 30-35 minutes. Water rose from 20.5 to 22°C very slowly, I reduced the water, then rose to 41°C in 1-2 minutes. It remained stable (1 minute). Then back 40, 39, 38 ... the power button gave no light but stood at 1 and not 0.

I use conditioner and thoses 'stones' against agressive boiling

First, Hello, and your English is better than my Dutch or French!
I am going to give you my advice, which may or may not be correct, as I do not have a T500. I have been stilling,Pot and reflux for a time though.
First, NEVER use carbon in a wash.
No-one here has ever claimed a positive result.
You state, several times that you have "poured" your product, - this you should not do, you should "rack" (siphon) with a clear tube, so that you can see when to stop sucking up sludge.
Your water temps. mean nothing to me, as I do not have that still.
Have you tried runnning a sample through the airstill?
That would tell you if the fault is the wash or the still.
Other than the above, I can only see the problem being with the T500.
I am sorry, I wish to help, but feel unable.

Robert.

Oke guys, let's try another time lol...

The boiler has an reset button, but thats not the only reset button.
My extension cable also has one.

Let's try a 3th time, after cleaning and now only with water

Ok ... Am I right in thinking your boiler is cutting out before you are done?

5,5 liters @ 40% ABV

wasted a lot of wash because of that durty active carbon, I could have 7 liters.

BUT I'm happy for my first run with it! Those T500's are awesome, temperature was 4 hours long around 55-60°C.

perfect.

If your machine is reseting [tripping out] a lot, try is somewhere else in the house that doesn't need an extension lead. Also made sure any extension lead is fully unwound. Boilers on for 3 -4 hours ask a lot of the wires they are plugged into.

Yes indeed, my cable was pretty hot, 2000 Watt is quite a bit.

That's the problem. Hot cable is not good.

Thats a lot of power thru an extension lead mate.
Any electrician will tell you that. Better off
without one. I think it will solve your problem.
And yes T500 awesome bit of kit if used
carefully and correctly will make fantastic
Vodka. Try Mash's Kale Wash very very good. :) :)
Rather have a full bottle in front of me

I would like to think that Dynamic has found the answer to his problems, but suspect that he has not.
