I take it you have "a normal spirit hydrometer (7.9" type) as Magnu said..and you only need a trial jar??.

If your hydro is larger than the standard size then you buy a new hydro and jar from any of the links.

Just hold it underneath couple of drips. Bingo. I also think a parrot is a bit inaccurate for an airstill given the volume.

I use mine for the grapes that a friend on the allotments has...we just go up pick a grape squeeze a few drops on and read off the sugar, then we know when to pick....must say never give it a thought to use it on the other sides of our hobby.. ;) will give it a go against the old hydro.
