Boiler insulation
Following AM's recommendation I got some 25mm armaflex insulation 500mm x 2000mm and made a jacket and lid for the T500 boiler
Did a spirit run today and seems to be coming off quite a bit faster and water temp is much more stable
Second result !!

Re: Boiler insulation
You're getting serious about distilling - aren't you?
Liked your idea about the water filter and got one locally, going to install it tomorrow and get the Chlorine & Limescale out of my brews.

Re: Boiler insulation
Can't sing the praises of insulating the boiler enough !
Just run a 28% abv boiler full as a triple distill using the reflux column
Coming off at over 2L an hour at the start and 94%
Obviously slowed towards the end but knocking 1to 2 hours off the run which is around 50p of juice and hardly need to touch the water flow
Highly recommended

Re: Boiler insulation
Saving time on the run plus less power and water usage are all first class reasons to insulate your boiler and column.

Re: Boiler insulation
Stealth Wrap!
I like it!
I didn't answer your Q about the plastic parts in the column as I've never seen those bits and bobs close up so I didn't have anything useful to offer.
Looks like you've found your solution anyway
Biggest difference I've found is in the boiler anyway.
