Just started 5 gallon of still spirits Turbo yeast express.
WOW!!!!!
Never seen a more active ferment, it says it will ferment 6KG of sugar in 24 hrs - time will tell.

by what other people have said it took so long for me because of the extra 2kg of sugar so yours should be much quicker but I think the 24hrs on the packet is a bit optomistic

OK its done, took 48 hrs, the packet says optimum ferment is 25C but mine was at 30C so that might have been the reason.
I have degassed and added the finings. I whisked it up and if over flowed all over the bloody floor - not doing that again, still got 22ltr tho so not a total waste I'll will let you know how it performs.

I have been putting 4 litres of wash in a 5 litre tub, and shaking the life out of it before distilling, always letting any gas escape each time, so far no overflow....

can hardly beleive it fermented in 48hrs!
When you say it finished do you mean there was no air lock activity at all?
When I cleared mine it still bubbled once every few minuites but I go tbored waiting. Turned out ok though.
Do you pre-filter the wash before it goes in the still?
What do you use as a filter?
Do you use turboclear or something else to clear it before you distill it?

Turbo Wash
Hi Hangover,
well there was no activity in the airlock, and the water level had equalised, i know that means nothing in real terms, but my ferments have always stoped when that happens.
I mixed in part a and part b of turbo clear, and left it a few hours. All the heavy solids fell to the bottom, but the wash was still a little on the cloudy side, so i'm running it through my Harris VinBright, I use it for wine, and it really polishes the wine.
I'm only doing it because I need to distill toningt and dont want to wait 24 hrs for it to clear on its own.

If its of any interest i have never waited till a tubo wash has completely cleared, as long as the solids have dropped the slight haze doesn’t seem to make a difference as long as its well de-gassed
