What type of water do you use to water down the alcohol to 40%?
If it\'s distilled water do you do that through the air still?
I can produce pure RO water(Reverse Osmosis)as I keep marine fish. This water is filtered to be pure.

probably the best water you can use,i wish i had the gear to make it,a lot of the time i just use a good qaulity mineral water to cut back as distilling water in the still is a bit of a marathon...lol:)

Yes use RO water. I\'ve tried tap water, filtered tap water, deionized water etc. I find an off taste in anything but RO water.

I agree with the other posts RO Water every time for me. As I also produce my own it\'s always available. I have been using it for my wash as well the only thing I\'ve noticed is that tap water creates a more agressive(ie more vigorous) ferment.

Thanks for the replies.
A 3 stage RO system which is enough for drinking only cost about £80-100 depending on model. The important thing is to have enough water pressure in the system or you\'ll need a water pump to boost pressure.
I wouldn\'t be without the RO system now. We have very bad limescale in this area.

is this easy to set up,how much space do you need for the system,we to have terrible limescale here in the south east,so bad we have to use a britta water filter otherwise the kettle is clogged up with the bloody stuff in the blink of an eye.
cheers optic

The measurments for mine are 45w x 40h x 17d, but mine is a 4 stage filter for the fishies, you\'ll only need 3 for drinking. Plus a bit of pipe work. Mine fits nicely under the kitchen sink and easy to install.
The nice thing you can produce 75 gallons a day through it and the filters last 6 months, not that you need that much water. The filters generally last longer than this.
In the long run they are cheaper than Brita filters!

Very simalar system to my (ROMan) 4 stage. I had to fit a pump though as I didn\'t have sufficent water pressure and that cost me another £80. I run mine into a 100 litre storage tank so I can pre heat for my fish tanks.

Opus,
Mine is also a RO-Man unit.
Just out of interest do you take your drinking water after the 3rd filter and fish water after the 4th?
Do you know if they are still in business as their web site is down?

Hi v4mpy,
all my water comes off the final stage but I remineralise for the the fish tanks. I also use mine in the kettle and coffee machine. The kettle is 3 years old and still pristine inside ie no scale at all.
As for ROMan I deal through a distributor (Aquajardine J13 M5)
