Let's hope that the owners, Charles and Glenn, are not members here under pseudonyms.

Starting to sound a little "League of Gentlemen" here.
Anyone got any special stuff, or a surfeit of Biro's for Pauline?
Robert.
10 out of 10 if you have any inclination what I am rambling on about.

A multimeter will confirm if the elephants are working.

Isn't the T500 boiler the same as the Grainfather? Is it possible that you've got a protein scorch mark on the bottom and it's tripped the reset circuit?
From the Grainfather FAQ:
The Grainfather features a boil dry protection system (safety cut out) which will automatically switch off the element if the water level is too low.
To reset the safety cut out, switch the Grainfather off and unplug the unit. Empty out any liquid and press the reset button located at the bottom, underneath the boiler.
It is important to scrub the bottom of your Grainfather when cleaning if there is anything stuck to it. If you do not then any spots of proteins may create heat spots, also causing the Grainfather to cut out. It is best to gently scrape the element every now and then during the boiling process to minimise protein build up.

Yes, I agree. Long shot. Didn't know there were two heating elements either.
Looks like the boilers are different anyway - there's no tap on the Grainfather.

Agree with Mash - the retailer is responsible for replacing your T500, it obviously sounds like it’s a faulty unit, it’s up to the retailer to claim under the warranty off the supplier.
They should replace yours, no questions.

Just Muddying the waters here...
My home build still, with a double element,pre-welded under the inner boiler, does sometimes burn shit marks, if I run a cloudy brew.
Shit shots may count, cloudy strips are worth a wait for settling.
And that is a whole lot politer than I wanted to tap
Robert.

I so want to quote from "Star treckin' across the universe" but do not know if it will make 'needmorstuff' laugh or cry, so I won't.
Yes I will...
"There's Clingons on the Starboard bow, shake 'em off Jim"
Robert.
I know, I'm bad to the bone

Forgive my high spirited flippancy.
Like many, I like to assume that I roam the tree-tops.
Sometimes I fall from the tree and smack every branch, on the way to the ground.
Glad that you have seemingly sorted your problem.
ATB.

It looks like some serious tilting is required to get the last gallon out of that thing!

I didn't like the tap being crooked either. Offends my sense of cosmic flatitude.
