Hi chaps,
I just put a wash on, 21 litres at 30 degrees. Added the 6kg of sugar, put my yeast and carbon in etc. Er...25 litres? How did that happen? Did I have a senior moment and put 25 litres of water in at the start by mistake? I guess I must have done.
I don\'t suppose it will matter will it?

That\'s correct balmoral and you haven\'t gone doolalley, the volume of the sugar is 4litres which is why you only need 21 litres of water :-p. I put about 6-7 litres of boiling water in my fermenter first off then dissolve the sugar in it completely before topping up to 25litres with cold to finish around 30%c or just under, I find that it ferments out mofe quickly to a slightly higher %age that way
Cheers, hoppin

Lol I was just about to say the same.

But one thing I have noticed is that some

bags 1kg of sugar are alittle more than stated

after measuring out 6kg I was left with 270g of

left over sugar. Don\'t know if that will make a

differnce but I like to be very precise :)

Blimey, I never noticed it going from 21 to 25 when the sugar was added before :)
Thanks for the prompt response.
