Salty Whisky
The beautiful amber nectar never ceases to amaze me! I've often thought some of the supposed flavours that get written up by critics are nonsense, however after a blind taste of Talisker Storm I can definitely taste salt!
Light & fruity, yes I can attest to it
Smokey & peaty, again I'm with you there (thank you laphroaig)
Now I know I'm not tasting actual salt, any in the wash would have been left in the still but whatever is dancing on my tongue right now is definitely salty. Not massively salty but it's there, just hiding behind the peat & smoke...is there anything this miracle drink can't do with what is essentially just 3 ingredients?

Re: Salty Whisky
Miracle drink in deed. Malted barley, yeast, water and the magical providence of used oak barrels.

Re: Salty Whisky
Don't forget that thing called Time.
Possibly also location.
Very possibly the shape of still.
Certainly the copper itself.
Some other minor factors.
Mix them all up to produce over a hundred different tasting Scottish Malt Whiskies.
Magic!
Robert.

There is no ONE way.
