Ok Folks, thanks for the reply's. Not sure what went wrong with it then. The only other time that I had another one stuck was an All Bran with Allinsons a couple of years ago in my previous house that a less stable temperature. Anyway as I said previously I put it through the machine and it is quite a good neutral.

I would like my brews to be scientific in approach, in truth, they are more experimental, seat of the pants way of doing stuff.
Most are repetetive, and work fine, some occasional hiccups.
The ones that don't do as they should take a little longer, for reasons that the yeasties don't explain.

I try not to shout at them too much.

Ferments do stick from time to time. A good restart routine is the to rouse the yeast (egg whisk it) and raise the temp.

I prefer the Dunce Cap and sit them in a corner approach, but I am old school!

All my stucks have been down to my poor water and have been fixed with a little baking soda and/or yeast nutrient. I just chuck a roughly teaspoon sized shake of each in now without even reaching for ph paper.

ok so first kale wash done ,just finished first spirits run of the air still .
hope ive done it correctly.
4 litres of 30% from stripping run .
i took the first 50ml foreshots and discarded.
250ml heads (kept for later)
took the next 500ml hearts and then collected 100ml at a time up until the % dropped to 60% (about 1100ml total hearts.
i then collect about another 400ml in 100ml jars of tails down to 30% (am i right in thinking the tails go into the next cleared wash before the stripping run)

i followed the guide on here so hopefully i have done it right ?
this is the first time i have attempted this as i have always used the turbo packs and just gone with the packet instructions.

You have almost followed the guide.
Your first five 100 ml bottles/jars should also be hearts.

If you haven't yet,then read this:

When you have experience to argue with it, you no longer need it.

You can add tails to the next stripped wash or run a heads and tails run, diluted to sub 30%.
Then be more fussy about what you keep.
Collecting in small amounts and smelling/tasting being the important thing.

Running the same wash repeatedly will make life easier, if you like the product.

Anyways, you seem to have made a step up in product quality.

Hi robert my first 5 100ml bottles i did keep as hearts, i think i kept 6 to make the 1100ml total hearts .am i missing something here or just being dumb lol... after the 250ml heads ,i collected a straight 500ml of hearts then went on to collect in 100ml batches,i added 6 of them to the hearts to make a total of 1100ml of hearts.

Thanks for your advice over the last few weeks ,tonight i am sat enjoying the best vodka i have ever made ,it is amazing compared to the stuff i made with the blackstuff.i am definitely a Kale convert ,i have one on the go and 2 more kale frozen ready to go..

Right then, whilst I await delivery of my T500, I thought I'd get a wash started so I've started one of these kale washes.
I've put one of those Bubble traps in the top of.my bin and put some water in there, but I seem to have 4 bubbles filled out of 6 i.e. Two on each side if that makes sense. Is that the right way to do it ?

Well it makes sense to me.....I take it tho' that you think it is fermenting, or even know it is?

No bubbles? You have a leak.

Ahhhh quite right, the lid wasn't screwed down tight, now it is and I have a wonderful bubbly popping ....very vigorous
