My Navy Strength Gin

... went cloudy when I added tonic.

It's 57% ABV and quite heavy on the juniper, but crystal clear in the bottle, but when I tried it last night it went cloudy. Thinking it must be the oils from the juniper, but if that was the case why didn't it go cloudy when I watered it down after making it? I let it mature for about 3 weeks before cracking open a bottle last night to try it.

Maybe it needs more time for the oils and flavours to marry? Will put it back in the cupboard for another couple of weeks and then see what happens maybe.

Recipe I used (vapour infusion)

Juniper 18g
Coriander seeds 9g
Cardamon pods 2
Bitter Orange peel 3g
large pinch of angelica
pinch of orris

I collected down to 60% and then watered down to 57%.

I think gin keeps combining for a while.

Thats the perfect recipe, but was it 1 or 2 ltrs of
neutral. I use 2 ltrs with almost identical recipe.
Collect to 6o% as per, could it be the water?

Water didn't turn it cloudy, the tonic did.

I used 1.5 litres of neutral.

Maybe I should give the bottles a good shake to make sure everything is combined? Just weird, never had this happen like this before. Just would have expected it to turn clouded when I diluted, not when I added tonic.

Louching has ceased to work for me when I want it to.
But sometimes happens when I don't.
Quietly,and privately scratching my head.

Just thought - is it something in the tonic that is causing the reaction?
