I got into a bit or a rage last night with the stare of my Alembic pot head. So i decided to try and clean it with everything but citric acid as i had none. Tried steel wool, scrubbing brushes etc but no go.

"Oh there my DeWalt drill with a new brass brush" i said and broceeded to buff uop the inside of my pot. It worked well but left little scratches on the inside, like the inside of a engine liner.

Will this be a problem and if so how do i smooth it out again. Im thinking there might be some science to the greater surface area of the head now and sulfie binding but a loss of even distribution of heat.

Would've loved to see exactly how 'dirty' one might get.....?

I don't mind appearing as the dumb one here.
What is the problem/perceived problem here?
You now have clean copper, to deal with what is thrown at it.
The very property that commended it to this art/practise.
I am missing something?

I personally try to keep all internal copper of my stills and condenser as clean as possible.
I use/get through LOTS of Citric acid.

Chill out man.
Use the equipment as intended, less worry, more happiness.
If I could Scratchify the inside of my condenser, then I would be a very happy man!

Clearly beyond repair, post it me and I am sure the condenser is contaminated as well. Best rid yourself of that too

Seriously unless there is actually a hole in it, you will be just fine.

Should be fine. I've read many differing opinions on whether clean, stained, patinated (sp?), smooth, roughed is better.

My personal guess would be that the abraded surface will give the tiniest amount of reflux and will improve your product ie let the flavour across while improving what the copper does.

MHO is that abrading will up the magic that copper does.
