Jack Daniels Wood Chips

Don't know if it would be to everyones taste but i soaked the Spirit in Jack Daniels Wood Chips for 14 Days, i think i will give it another 7 Days,I soaked 2.5Litres of Spirit in 500grammes of Chips,tasted it after 2weeks and thought it was getting there,i tasted it after having some Jim Beam Devil's Cut and some Buffelo Trace,I cannot say that it tasted like either,but it was a respectable Whisky.I have only doing this for 6 months so maybe people out there can make it much better,but it's by far the best i have managed so far.

Good man. I gave to say the JD chips are soo good I do wonder if all grain mash is worth the time it takes.

I would say that AG is worth the extra effort.
And I do it a harder way than most.
The 13.5 litres @ 62% from my last sack of barley have a base taste and odour that oak aging will only improve upon.
It cannot replace that, only improve it, IMHO,

As luck would have it. The rest of my fittings arrived yesterday so the BM will be rebuilt very soon.

That and Manflu have slowed down me down a bit.

First up is a malt/corn mash.

what is AG? im a newb aand have read a good book about the shine but the abbreviations used here are reet proper over my head like

thanks for the reply ivve got some bourbon chips (essencia) and some good run off happening right now so im gonna run through the still again 2wice and then do the soak..

i also thing ill be doing an AG mash/wash next time round as the ingreds are available to me and my only question is whether it would be worth it using an airstill or do i need the t500 copper dome etc

Yep, as mentioned in other thread(s) don't pay for a dome, even if you do go T500 route. The pot head (or a made/bought other type) works fine with standard T500 lid.
