Distillers Conditioner-Lard instead of Butter? OK?

Just getting back to normality after the silliness of Christmas. Hope you all had a good one.
I'm getting low on the "Distillers Conditioner" and have read before that a knob of butter will work.
Is this the case for any fat (ie lard) - or will the (deodorising) stuff in lard carry through to the distillate?
Thanks, guys!

I would use a vegetable based oil in preference to an animal fat.

I salute you, Sir. Thank you, indeed. I do like the animal/vegetable difference which didn't occur to me. I'll be off to the shops tomorrow!
Thank you again, Vino-tinto.

Before you start putting either in your boiler have you thought of the cleaning up afterwards?
A better option might be one of the silicon based anti foam spa / hot tub options.
Just a thought.

I had considered it, thanks! I figured that either way it would contribute to experience. In any case, whatever I use (or don't) I should clean the still thoroughly.
Ideally, I'd love an all-natural anti-foaming product - but I'm beginning to suspect this limits my options.

Controversial maybe.
I use a clear,de-gassed wash every time,a hand full of squished copper boil pieces.
Never used a conditioner, butter or whatever.
Never had a problem.
Maybe my day will come.
Robert.
