Myles's stills
Well folks, I am a long time wine and cider brewer but have been distilling for a shorter period. I started with a 5 litre spirits unlimited pot still, but moved on fairly fast. I have tried lots of options and am currently upgrading all my own equipment. I am not in any particular hurry due to other life commitments.
I am rationalising my stills somewhat. I have a pot still that uses a 100 litre keg as a boiler.

2 of 3kW immersion elements in Essex Flange bosses, and a 22mm drain. The copper top has a fixed vane turbulator inside the bowl to try and direct the vapour onto the copper walls. This is all an attempt to get some natural reflux into the still. It looks a bit odd on that 54mm stem but there are 2 gated ports built in. 1 is a refil port and the other is an overflow for a thumper. The big diagonal condenser on the wall is a Friedrich's.
This is going to feed a 3 valve plate column mounted over a thumper - but I am still building that.
I also have a propylene glycol double boiler, but that is also getting an all copper inner pot. The outer pot is again electric, 2" thickness of expanded foam insulation topped off with a fibreglass skin. For now it is sitting in the other corner of the still room next to my 3" VM/LM column.

I have other bits on the go and will show them later. I will be putting a pot still up for sale too, check out the pot still section.

Re: Myles's stills
I am building a rig for someone here and it includes a 30 litre thumper that will go under a packed column for Vodka production. It will be fed from a 100 litre boiler.
Anyhow thought you might like to see the thumper. These kegs could be used to build a nice small electric boiler - you just need to build your own element - but that is actually easy enough.
Top mounted vapour inlet combined with the refil valve.
Central drain and overflow ports
And the adjustable legs
This lot is actually going with the pot still I put up earlier as a combined setup that is a pot still and a vodka column integrated together for ease of use.
