I buy similar stuff to Robert from ebay and a bottle will last ages, but a tiny bottle from a supermarket baking section for a quid or so will let you experiment with it.

1 teaspoon to a gallon of anything nice will sweeten it and give it a rounder, fuller feeling on the tongue. For one bottle you want the tiniest amount.

I've started using it in ciders too. Haven't tried in wine yet.

I've used it in wine for years....like already been said it adds mouthfeel.
