Hi everyone.
Quick question before I send my daughter to the co-op.
Would youngs yeast nutrient be any good for a plain sugar wash with allinsons yeast?
I want to get a 60ltr wash started.

Thanks in advance
Robert

I would chuck in 600 grams tomato paste and the juice of 2 lemons

Hope you didn't send your daughter out on such a foul night.
Only just spotted this,apologies.
Your nutrient should work just fine, most wine nutrients are good with sugar washes in my experience.
Or even a handfull of lentils, split peas or cornflour,or anything else.
Robert.

I didn't end up starting the wash last night.
I did however end up kicking myself as just before we went to bed my wife asked how much barley I'd needed to use for such a big fermenter!!!!!!!!
I've only ever done 1 barley sugar head and she remembered.
We currently have about 100kg in the garage!
So with a feeling of dumbness I may start a 60ltr barley sugar head tonight.
How's that sound?

If you are determined to use up the nutrient and still have concerns about the validity of it. Then why not make up two half size batches and limit the liability?

I know you want to use your big fermenter but that can be used to it's capacity when you have proven to yourself that the recipe works for you.
