Carbon Filtering
Folks, I'm trying to decide what Filter to buy.
Clearly the one with the airstill is of no use.
A few have said the Essencia, but the filters are pricey.
I'm tempted by the granular carbon filter from Spiritworks - the long metal tube that you fill with carbon. A bag of carbon is pretty cheap and it refills the filter about 5 or 6 times. Each filter session clearing 10 litres twice.
Has anyone got an opinion or other products?
Many thanks in advance.

Re: Carbon Filtering
None. Save your money and run cleaner more natural fermentations, make cleaner cuts and your won't need a filter.
I should also say there are people who will disagree with me and will advise how to waste your hard earned.

I use the Essencia, it’s an initial layout but I’ve never bought new filters in the years I’ve had it, you can crack open both the ceramic and carbon filter and replace the carbon with the bags of carbon you can buy in HBS.
I’ve done two post on here in the past showing how to open the filters and refill them, if only I knew how to find them!

Re: Carbon Filtering
The same as Anavrin, I use an Essencia and re-refil both filters at the recommended renewal periods.
I can't recall where my posts reside either.
For sure a search will show all that you need to know.
That is the purpose of a search box.
Robert.

Re: Carbon Filtering
Cheers guys for feedback on essencia refill. however its more initial outlay and then have to modify filters to refill. Granular filter is already designed to refill and half outlay. SO unless anyone has used granular and can give reason not to buy it, then it seems way forward.
i take the point of not needing it if good enough at cuts, but equally I like the inference that you could equally not be good and throw in a couple of additional 100 mls per airstill and filter out and gain an extra bottle at 40% potentially.
cheers.
