What do you guys think??....I have a short piece of 15mm that fits at the top of my pothead onto the condenser. I read somewhere that there was a train of thought that said because of the length of this pipe..(6") it could cause a mild reflux...that you don't need on a strip run.
It maybe better to shorten the pipe to a min length so that the vapor travels from the column direct into the condenser.....any thoughts???

I would say that because it's a smaller diameter of 15mm, it will have a much larger surface area ratio compared to its boar size than a wider section, so it will loose heat more easily which could cause some reflux.
Saying that, I wouldn't worry too much about it, As its horizontal and all the vapours traveling towards the condensor, it will carry any condensation through to the condenser anyway.

It was just a thought as I sat there yesterday running it....I know it's only a minor thing and not worth worrying about...I've been using it like that now for about a year...but sometimes you just want to better your way of doing something.

You could always insulate the 15mm part, I sometimes run a single plate with reflux when stripping a wash for neutral.

My two pennorth says that any reflux from such a twee piece is not worth considering.
But what do I know?
