By 'tin tent' I meant one of those micro caravan things - we are selling the big one. I often nip away for the nights and I think one of those would be brilliant. Pull up on site/ plug-in / beer / headdown. Although B&B's cheaper. I guess :(

In the past I have used big caravans, but I do see your point. Some of those little teardrops are very nice, and there are good quality plans avilable if you wish to build your own.

Oh, and as far as Brexit goes,I have several visiting relatives over from the UK and they were all voting to leave...of course some will think it's because they have money but as business owners they were concerned personally but believed it was in the best interest of England to leave.
I have an opinion but don't think it's relevant so I won't say it...just know that I'm right wing or more correctly libertarian in views.

Let's all try to remain within political ring fences here.
That is not the reason that we check in to this site.
We are here because we share a passion/hobby that transcends nationalism, politics, religion, and just about any 'ism that you can think of.
Despite any political and any other differences that I may have with fellow
'stillers here,I am here to discuss alcohol.
OK, sometimes food.
Sometimes other stuff :)
I like friendly people. :-*

So...speaking of camping and brexit...lol.

Where do you guys go camping in the UK? You have camp grounds or can you just "head out into the wilderness"? (I'm assuming you probably don't have any "wilderness" to camp in...?

I tag along with my cousins and their friends sometimes when they go 4x4ing with the mud trucks and end up way back in the middle of nowhere, camp for a few days fishing/hunting then make our way back to civilization. Usually a week long adventure with lots of likker and broken parts. LOL! Uncle has 400+ acres so if we get to the back of that we follow the power lines to other friends/relatives property.
As long as we can knock down some trees so the emergency chopper can get in it's all good. Bwahaha. Did I mention lots of likker?

Here in Sotland we now have the right "to roam", basically we can walk just about anywhere, I don't think it covers wild camping, but a landowners acreage is no longer private.
Knocking down trees may be regarded as vandilism. :)

Land owned by a private individual is not private??? You can just go on anyone's property? :o My rifle says otherwise here! LOL.

Here we either know the person or use crown land. Nobody is going to hassle a person 40km's in the middle of nowhere on crown land, heck there certainly wouldn't be any cops around.

If you're travelling on highways here a lot of people will pull into Wal-Mart or other huge parking lots for the night then be gone in the morning. Not uncommon to see groups of 4-6 motorhomes together in a parking lot. While travelling around the coast of Nova Scotia we've stopped in to warf's and jetty's for the night. Never a hassle there either, mind you though, you don't leave a mess behind. Always leave it better than when you got there.

We would prefer your way of camping, but with the old UK being a wee bit smaller than yours...we have to stick with what we've got.

We're away this weekend...the camp site is a working farm run by an old couple...small with only around 12 pitchs. It's out in the sticks away from any big town, but you can hear a pin drop.. ;)

I had 5 months in Canada, 1997, I only saw a fraction of it, despite going coast to coast!

In Scotland, the right to roam generally covers open countryside, not city dwellers pocket sized gardens. :)

I thought that you Canadians were tight on gun control? for sure tighter than your Southern border neighbours.

I have been over a few times over the years,I have a sister that has shuffled between Canada and the USA for about 30 years now.

Oh,and while I am familiar with North American shopping lots, here in the UK expect to pay if you exceed 2 hours.

'BREXIT'??? Who, when and where coined this aphorism as a blanket cover for any who opposed the E.U.?

Here I must stress that opposing the E,U, has little to do with who is a member of it. It just happens that a referendum does give an opportunity to those who oppose the E.U. as well as those who do so for nationalistic reasons, to register such as a fact.

As this thread wanders ever wider from the specifics of being a member or not, of what is presently called the European Union, can it not be put to bed as a miserably failed discussion?

Do Canadians hide illicit moonshine stills deep in the woods like you see in the Appalachian mountains on Moonshiners, or is this all just some kind of romantic fantasy?
