Who thought this was a good idea???

Postby Icefever » Sat Jan 11, 2014 3:53 am

I see someone in the West Midland police thought that this was a good idea!!! Image

Who comes up with these “cockamamie” ideas?? do they think no ones going to notice or bother about spending £240,000 on one smegging car?. This is the same force that bought a Scania tractor unit to patrol the M6 so that they could "see into" other trucks to observe the drivers, as a car is to low.

Ye gods, it makes my blood boil, when & where's it going to end...Image

It's not an isolated case Chill, in the same paper...
Officials at NICE - which has been criticised for restricting life-saving treatments on the grounds of cost - racked up £115,000 on taxpayer-funded credit cards

People who need new drugs are told that "the treatment costs too much" then this happens. ???

Many police forces do things like this from time to time, mostly PR crap.

All the police forces tend to have something for fast response in various guises. There's no consistency as I guess that they have slightly different requirements and spec. Essex being a good example as that was the only place I'd seen "marked" subaru impressa's. But there's their road network layout as well as the the stereotype of the younger population (gobsh1te knowitall boy racers etc) getting all competitive with each other as well as police enforcement. .....

I'm wondering if West Mids still have their unmarked artic tractors so they can go for the professional drivers, what with their apparent obsession with mobile phones, seatbelts and foreign drivers using their laptops not for satnav but playing DVDs etc which helps placate the xenophobic little englander voting public.........

Hopefully there will be a follow up story when he bins that mclaren and ends up in its roof.

Having nearly been run off the road more than once on my motorbike, by these "highly trained" drivers who seem to think they are in the dukes of hazzard.

Meh! All professional drivers have the same base level of advanced training - that's exactly why you need the additional licensing, but that doesn't mean we're all expert.

To get the best, not only do they need to train the drivers specially but then they need to keep them doing nothing but "special" driving. The analogy is the number of people out there with a vocational qualification on their license but without cementing the training given for testing with considerable experience, they're a liability when, on odd occasions, they're put behind the wheel of a big wagon or coach.

They need regular refreshment drives to keep their hand in, so it surprises me, not at all to hear of your comment CC......

If this is correct and not an early "April Fool" then maybe Notts police should tap up West Mids for a few ££££ seeing they have money to spare..Image

It seems,if you read the article in the OP,that the car has not been bought, has merely been liveried up for a motor show, and is then going back to the car showroom.
The article did appear in The Mail,so you have to read the small writing, not just the headlines and bylines.
Robert.

Equally Rob, police forces in various areas have done publicity stunts like this. There's been some Italian forces that have used Ferrari and Lamboughini etc (I think there's some pics of one like that written off). Likewise with some of the faster motorcycles.......
