Thanks Chill.
Thought as much about the yeast situation but can I find my degassing stick/ paint stirrer for my drill, can I hell. Only bought a new one a couple of weeks ago and its gone missing already.
Looks like its hand whisk time.

Degassing should be done, helps clear the wash immensely.
As to your wine comment - I have kept cleared washes for longer then a year before I've run them (procrastination) without using campden or sorbate, neither of which I particularly like.

Airtight is the main thing. Camden tabs just derisk it.

Found the degassing stick earlier and spent 30 minutes giving it a good going over. That was after the first few minutes of doing it when my electric drill went into 'stuck fast mode' and sprayed the kitchen, floor and myself from top to bottom.
Had to spend 20 minutes with a mop, bucket and bleach cleaning up but its now in the shed on a solid concrete floor as advised earlier.
I need to get a good stock of neutral spirit ready for drinks for family members so I'm just about to start another this evening.

Best idea is to grow tomatoes up it.

Third lentil wash going through the still today, made this around 4 weeks ago and left to it's own to ferment and clear...
No finings required now, saved £1.50...
Not been on of late, been distracted with a 1968 Gottlieb pinball I've bought to restore..

Eh? What for? Absorb CO2 and give off oxygen sure. Better tomato growth perhaps. But I thought the context was degassing and clearing. What am I missing here?

blatant sarcasm

Never seen the need to degas anything - least of all with a stick.

Transferring the wash to the boiler is all the degassing I do.

Bang on. I think degassing with a stick should perhaps be called oxidising instead.

With this recipe is it for 5 gallon?
Think I've thinned it down too much on this batch.
enough to fill Airstill nearly 6 times?

No, you're good. If you follow the AirStill best practice guide elsewhere on this forum, you'll find that's exactly what you want - 6 batches of 4l on your stripping run to give you 9 litres at 30% for a second spirit run - 8 to process and 1 to save for later.
All will be well, I'm sure!
Cheers
