G'day all,
Newbie here. Started making beer over sixty years ago but this is my first attempt at using a still.
I would really like to replace the digital thermometer on the cooling water of the T500 with one that I can set to alarm if the temperature moves outside a pre-set. IE: If the flow temperature goes <65C or >70C.
Cheers and thanks
Mac

Thank you that is exactly what I am after. Do you know if the sensor probe is compatible with the fitting on the T500, please?
Mac

That looks like a wider probe than will fit. I have a note somewhere on the correct probe diameter but can't currently bring it to hand.

I only comment it these are usually not very loud. I use them on a freezer - brill - it defrosted before I heard it.
...and I don't need to go to specsavers

You shouldn't really leave the still unattended, so loudness shouldn't be the issue

I thought all knew that Mash runs his Smart Stills on timers, un-attended?
I will not say that I advocate doing so, but I often go to bed leaving my very silly still running.
Something will kill you in the end.
Health and safety pisses me off, common sense and experience seems to get me by.

I got my ass kicked on another forum a few months ago (different name for me though some may guess) for asking for a way to do exactly this process. I was not proposing automation or that unattended stilling was smart, but purely for a safety mechanism whether it be auto cut-out or alarm and I got a tonne of abuse for anything suggesting 21st century practice.
