Essencia Filter Dimensions Sought

I presently have the SS EZ Filter System and wonder how feasible it is to convert it to an Essencia system using Essencia spares and the bottom SS bucket. What are the diameter (at the top) and depth of the outer container of the Essencia system, please?

Also, what are the inside and outside diameters of the flanged top of the inside container of the Essencia system, please.

Thanks!

AM,

Thanks for the diagrams! Does the outer diameter of the inner container taper from below the flanged top to the bottom?

I measured my SS kit. The Essencia inner container does not nest within the SS bottom bucket by itself. However, the SS hollow bottom lid has an inside diameter of approximately 185mm. If the SS bottom lid is fitted, it might work.

I ask about whether the Essencia inner container tapers because wall thickness needs to be added. I really need to know the outside diameter of the Essencia inner container just below the flanged top. Then, we will know if it can fit in the SS bottom lid or not.

Alternatively, does the inner container when fitted with the carbon filter suspend from the bottom of the outer container? If so, then by how much? Perhaps, a stainless steel spacer would address that.

Thanks!

AM,

Thanks! This should work with the SS bottom lid inverted. I am going to order the inner container and the two filters with a savings of $50.

I have seen a replacement ceramic water filter, marketed by Zen, at a third of the cost. However, I don't know if these are the same as Essencia's as I am unsure of the plastic's resistance to ethanol.

AM,

I agree. As an aside, Australia's Pure Distilling now markets an all stainless steel version of the SS filter.

For the moment, I have tabled the project. I am also considering a copper pipe plus sanitary fittings and ball valve set-up to avoid plastic completely. Meanwhile, I have a cabernet sauvignon on oak and a blackberry mead (melomel) in the fermenter keeping me busy and giving me more time to decide.

Thanks!
