Wilco finings

Hi Guys

I popped into Wilco's today, looking in vain for one of them 8lt kilner jars with the taps.

I did find some two part wine finings, packaged just like turbo klar, it was only £1 so I bought a couple, can't remember the price of turbo klar but I'm sure it's more than a quid, I'm gonna try one on a lentil wash I have ready.

Looking at the two packs, I would say they came from the same manufacturer with the same stuff inside, only different labels.

I'll post some pics but can't do it yet cos my phone won't upload.

I have used the Wilko finings and they are the same as all the other brand name finings.

What do I know, tried it and it worked for me. Nowadays I use Sparkalloid, nuf said.

When I looked there was half the quantity in the wilkos stuff,it was half the cost but took twice as long to clear.

One pound instead of two, two days instead of one, you pay your money and take your choice.

How many companies produce this stuff in almost identical packaging? Guessing one.
I am hearing YHB's call of smaller quantities maybe,but haven't compared myself.
And fuf and Sparkolloid.
I have stocks of both,but these days just give it an extra day,and run it anyway.
I'm distilling this stuff,not bottling;any remaining crud will be washed from the boiler.
Seems to work for me.
But hey,what do I know?

We use Wilko finings all the time,it works ok is readily available and its cheap."Near enough for Government work"!

I use the wilko's finings religiously now, never used to but an experiment i done one time with my clear lentil wash just showed me how much crud was still actually in the wash. around half a cmtr. I thought to myself for the sake of 75p (thats what my wilkos charge) i'll use it on everything, that way i know its clear.
