Top Shelf Strawberry Schnapps made with the SS Schnapps Base is a winner with the ladies. Jury still out on Blackberry Schnapps personaly though I quite like it, it\'s got some interesting flavours going on.

cant say that i have tried that essence, but i think it would be wise to just put in half as i did do a SS cherry brandy and used the whole base and that was to sweet, that way you can add a bit more f needed,on the essence subject i mixed a prestige marty romin cognac up a month ago, tried a drop last night, tastes foul IMO its not in the slightest like brandy.Think the best "brandy" essence ive tried is prestige carte noir, which is not bad think im of the same opinion as some others on here that no one makes a decent brandy essence, also mixed at the same time a prestige malt whisky essence must say that is one of the wierdest ive tried, its got a apple twang to it so those two bottles are destined to go back in the still sometime.

All I remember is that Southern Comfort is 35% abv and has a gravity of 0.97.
I did make this with the southern haze essence a while ago with reduced sugar but forgot 2 remember the amount of sugar I used. My bad

BTW, it was excellent. Sorry

Hi All
Did a southern haze for crimbo didnt add any base just straight out of bottle was pretty good but as a test added small amount of sugar to a glass i had poured and made a significant difference to the taste for the better. Also did the following
ss kentucky bourbon... not as sweet as other bourbons very wild turkey tasting
had a try of some of the prestige liquers too
tutti frutti not as fruity as the name implies but a hit with the ladies
piggilinus(ice lolly) sweet with the taste of blue icepops but when lemonade was added brought out a variety of flavours not too bad at all
winter apfel (apple and cinnamon) was like drinking the apple slices from a well known burger chain and was rather fruity with a warm after-taste
green frog rather weird taste fruity but not too sweet was a big hit all round but cant explain the taste or why it went down so well but it did
I made these to keep the woman happy cos i had the usual ss rye whiskey,ss classic finest reserve scotch, top shelf french brandy and bourbons.
Am gonna have a taste of the pretige range of whiskeys ,bourbons and brandy when my next wash ferments.will keep you posted on how they taste in a couple of weeks.

Just made a southern haze mix to this recipe:
40% spirit- 1840ml
sugar- 125g
water- 130ml
essence- full bottle (50ml)
Resulted in 2.1litres, 35% abv, gravity of 0.98
Tasted great. With room to adjust sweetness and reduce alcohol if necessary.
It matches well with the one I made previously.

I\'ve just found 2 Litres of Top Shelf Kentucky Bourbon I put on some Oak Chips 10 weeks ago and forgot about. I thought it might of got a bit woody but it actualy tastes brilliant, it seems to have accentuated all the flavours. Just poured over ice, no mixers sumptuous.

Ive mixed up a litre of bourbon from the recipe in the profile kit minus the caramel and glycerine and put it to soak on some j daniels oak chips, they seem to work verry well with any type of whisky.
Has anyone else noticed i got some more bottles of prestige nectar of the gods scotch whisky essence yesterday £1.60 as usual,i mixed one up with 750mls of spirit as usual and it had hardly any colour/aroma so i looked at the bottle and it now only makes up 350mls but stil has the same amount of essence in the bottle so it must be a weaker mix,so has more than doubled in price!,i pointed this out to my HB shop and they had not noticed this, think prestige have priced themselfs out of the market on this now.

Well I was in the local HBS yesterday and instead of getting one of the Still Spirits \"Classic\" range (the ones in the sachets in a cardboard sleeve), I got one of the \"Top Shelf\" Irish whiskies to try, as the topshelf range seem to be nearly half the price i.e. a classic range flavouring is about £4.50, but the topshelf range are about £2.50 - both being enough to flavour 2.25 litres of spirit.....
When I\'ve got it made up, I\'ll give it a try and post about it, hopefully with a picture...
