Voltage Regulator

Postby gaza the instructor » Fri May 18, 2018 7:45 pm

This is a cheap but effective way of giving you
more control when you use the Alembic copperware
on your T500.

Bought one to try more in hope. You will need to
put a good quality plug on, but it really does work.
Have just completed two Rum spirit runs and very
happy. Yes it does take longer but worth the time. :)

I cant check now all locked away for the night, but I think
marked 0 to 20. 20 is full power and I knock back to about 8
for fores and up gradually to take heads and hearts. then
full power for tails. I do my fly cuts by smell then air
over night B4 final cuts.
Its very effective with the Alembic, will not bother with
the reflux column, no need.

A what Mash?
If I lick my fingers, stick one in the plug
and the other up my arse, my ears spin round.
The higher the voltage, the faster they spin.
Is that what you mean Mash?

No mate I dont have one but my electrician
mate checked it B4 I used it.
His comment was. "Crude but effective"

You say,Its very effective with the Alembic, will not bother with

is this for just making rum or do you never use it for making a neutral on your spirit run with the T500 ? just waiting for wash to finish to try it out with the T500 for a neutral run. ???

I got one after your mention of it a while ago,i tested it with the regulator and it shows the T500 running at at full tilt at 2100 watts and with the regulator at half way it does indeed show about 1050 watts so if the meter is correct then the regulator seems to be calibrated very well. ;D

Ninja I choose not to use with the column, because
I can adjust the water flow into the column to
adjust the amount of reflux,. The Regulator is only
adjusting the power.
I am sure you can use both but i just use one.
Will therefore only use it in pot still guise.

I use one of these, pretty good, change the plug for a UK plug and add an extra wire to earth the metal box.
Gaza, your sparky mate should have spotted it's not earthed, used on a metal worktop if the unit shorts the whole lot goes live, could be dangerous if you are allergic to 240v

I have one of these box's Maker and when I changed the plug there was an earth wire, so are you saying that the earth is not connected inside the box?? I need to check later.

Your last line made I chuckle :D I worked with a lecky block some 50 years back and I've always remember what he said.

Sorry Gazza im confused,,so you said about taking the fores and reducing the power on the T500 to compress the heads (on another thread) are you saying you have ditched this method now ?
i was just getting ready to have a play with this regulator kit i have bought,or have i got it wrong and you only use it when using the alembic dome for rum ect ?
Confused .com lol..... ;D ??? ???

Yes I only use on the copperware, but of course you
can use with both.Sorry if confused but on the
column you can increase the water flow and put into
full reflux.
