Anyone tried this filter? I have seen this on YouTube
and seems quite easy to use? The carbon filters look expensive
though

no havent used it but yes reckon it will be expensive to run and you have got no choice other than to buy the still spirits carbon cartridges, you are far better off getting the Z filter IMO,at least you can buy the carbon from different sources,i personally use alcotec activated carbon which is £5 a bag and there is enough in there to refill the Z filter 3 times and there is still a little bit left in the bag, hope this helps

I\'ve only got the normal Z filter. I don\'t know how much the carbon elements for the EZ filter go, but it takes a bit less than a bag of SS distillers carbon to fill the Z filter, as I run spirit through twice, once the carbons done 4 or 5 batches, I change it, but I rinse it in boiling water as per the instructions in Gert Strands Carbon Filtering ebook.
I\'ll be you can\'t do that with the EZ filter. I just have to add a little bit when refilling the filter so it\'s costing me peanuts. Oh and my Z filter has the matching buckets, 10 ltr. It then depends on how much I open the tap, as to how quickly it works.....

I use the Alcotec Carbon as well in my Z Filter which works out considerably cheaper than the still spirits packs. The Alcotec pack is 1.7 Litres. Not sure what a full pack weighs but mine has had one fill taken out and it now weighs 860 grams. If I remember correctly the SS carbon weighs 195 grams based on weight it would seem like you should get 5 refills out of a pack. Granular size is 0.4-1.4mm and looks pretty much the same as the SS Carbon. Most importantly \"It Works\".

That\'s handy to know. Looks like I\'ll be on the look out for some of the alcotec carbon then. Wash it out in the same way Gert Strand suggests and it\'ll make it even cheaper....I use the Alcotec Carbon as well in my Z Filter which works out considerably cheaper than the still spirits packs.
