Hi Folks

Has anybody tried making the basic mojito spirit .... eg spearmint leaves soaked in spirit

for say two weeks or so then the white rum essence added then left two weeks or so to mature. If so what quantity of spearmint leaves did you use. Results or recipe would be welcome.

My thinking behind this is if the barrel chips release their flavours and oils in spirit why would it not work with mint???.

Thanks in advance

I took 1 litre of 40% with SS white rum flavouring in it and added 180 gms of washed fresh mint leaves. Shook the jar two/three times a day until the mint leaves had gone brittle and were losing their colour (about a week)
Then just ran the spirit through a coffee filter to get rid of any bits of leaf etc.
The resultant drink is fantastic - much more minty than you get with a mojito. Even the missus said how nice it was. Going to get some limes, more mint leaves, some sugar and it\'s party time :)
If you have a bit of spirit around then this is a great one to make as the taste is just incredible. Well worth a try :)
