Fish rot from the head down...
I'm starting to think that a certain forum (not this one)is actually sponsored by government agencies, or maybe vested interests in the distilling industry.
All info given seems designed to put a newbie off the noble art and the slightest criticism means losing the ability to log on.
C'est la vie.

Not sure. lol
Isn't my nature to deliberately upset people but who knows what offense gets taken from a person saying what's on their mind.
What I did say was on the lines of how much spirit gets distilled while the newbie is reading the site 3 times? If a Boka is so much better than a cm still, how come one of the HBS isn't selling Bokas and blowing the competition out of the water?
Genuine questions imo but academic now, I can't log on there as I don't have what it takes to be elitist.

I think I've been there recently. I expressed an opinion on an unnamed forum and was rounded on by a mod, kicked in the nuts by another and told by the owner to mind my own...
This is the only forum you don't get that. Seems others only like their own kind or those who won't rock their ego-boat.

I noticed recently that the StillDragon Dash and Torpedo stills are CM (at least to my untrained eye). Fester et al know what they are talking about. Properly made, it is a design with merits.

Everything has a price.
There are Bok’s and there are Bok’s. You can buy Bok’s (LM’s) and VM’s but they tend to be more expensive due to the height needed, the amount of packing and type of control valve. There are suppliers who make them cheaper, but they make them cheaper by making them smaller. Then they don’t work so well. To be more competitive the next company has to make them even cheaper / smaller, or sell them with (Valve / Packing not included).
Chill
Yes the Dash and the Torpedo are CM stills in that there is no control on either the liquid take off or vapour flow. The control is made by changing the cooling rate to the reflux coil. Where Fester has excelled, is by making the individual elements intechangeable and as cheap as possible, it is then up to the customer to decide how many of the individual elements he needs / wants / can afford at that time with the option of going back later and adding more functionality / capability when they can afford / need it..
OOP’s a bit off topic, but just commenting on the above .

I might make that the new tagline for the site - "StillSmart - 8/10 distillers said their knackers preferred it" - gotta have an edge eh!

You can't use the word 'knackers' the Travellers will be all over you
and before you know what's going on there'll be caravans and flea ridden ponies all over the place turning this lovely oasis into a halting site
