Hi there.

Well, i'm new to this forum (duh!).. and thought i'd say hi.

I'm Princess Twinkle Toes, probably easier to shorten it to Princess. I'm originally from New Zealand, but have moved to Melbourne, Australia in May 2015.

In NZ, i had a 25 Litre reflux still, but since i drank too much, my wife said i was limited in what i could buy in Aus... so i've gone out and bought an airstill.

Let me say that this forum has been invaluable. If it wasn't for this forum, i would have thrown the airstill away for being a piece of rubbish.

I've just started on my first lentil wash, and prior to this have been running standard sugar washes and strip running them out for the last few weeks.

Anyways, i just wanted to say hi.

Princess. Welcome aboard - if you had had a reflux, the Airstill will be different.

What is your tipple? Whiskeys, Vodkas, essences, natural?

I reckon you might have pulled a blinder on the wife - I am sure you could produce just as much in it as you could with your previous setup.

Oh, it's totally different. Funnily enough i berated myself about the fact i bought into the hype (not on here) about a still that i could crank up for 2 hours and have 1 litre of booze at the end of it. If i had engaged my Princess fluffy brain a bit better, i would have been like... wait... that doesn't make sense, there's no reflux tower.. what about the foreshots and heads?

Anyways, it's forced me to appreciate what the airstill can do, which is what i'll call more of an 'artisan' approach into making some liquor.

So what is my tipple? Well, anything and everything, although i am a keen whiskey drinker. Back in NZ i have a bunch of mason jars with whiskey barrel wood chips in them. They're probably all just tasting like wood, but i guess when i go back, i'll find out.

Apart from that, my most famous drink was a butterscotch schnapps, but that was made with a flavouring, so i can't take credit for it too much.

The kit I've ordered comes with the filter i think you see on their videos. Its a carbon disc about 2cm thick that screws onto the bottom of the filter pot header tank I believe. Still rubbish??

Yup. Still rubbish. I used the one that came with my AirStill once - now it's just garage-clutter

Princess, welcome. I'm new here myself and just starting an Airstill journey at the moment. So we can learn at the same time. Just started a Kale wash.

Welcome Princess! With a timer for unattended strip runs, your wife may soon be regretting her decision. I was surveying my store yesterday and thinking that I could drink myself to death a few times over.

I do have a timer, and started using it. However i'm too paranoid to trust it (or that my fluffy princess head has set it right) and keep going back to check. Maybe i'll become more relaxed soon.

You probably will. I got so relaxed that I forgot to put the container under the spout. More than once.

The timers with pins are the best. Sound mechanical movement and they never come on again.

I joined a few week ago, but I work away often, so I have just managed to login and take a look around.
loads of great info, an I love the recipes page, might take a look at the Apple Pie Recipe.

I started my own brewing last year, we decided to build a pub in the garden, started out as a summer house and finished with a bar All the wife's idea mind you. With this, I started to make beer and wine, then one day in the home-brew shop, I saw a still!! WOW, I had to get this, started with the Air Still, then last week I got the T500. What a massive difference that makes, absolutely made up with it.
Anyway, off to make some alcohol today. Catch you guys later
