I have just pulled my 500 apart to clean the saddles.

What a pain separating the copper from the saddles but got it done.

Whats the best way of cleaning??

I just boil the copper in a pan with some water and vinegar. When I ran some wash that wasn\'t dry and it was really smelly, I used some hydrogen peroxide that I use for sterilising stuff in the greenhouse on the ceramic saddles. That worked great.
I normally now just part fill the boiler after a spirit run with water, and run it without any cooling, the steam does a good job of cleaning it up. I have however replaced the spirit hose coming off the condenser with some 1/4â€

on my essencia still (copper scrubbers in collium) i just use a boiling citric acid solution, then drain away @ 40degrees and rinse through. but for ceramics i use coke ;)
