Re: i got me some jd wood smoking chips
I just re-read the thread you asked about and there's really not much I can add that's not there already except;
(1) if you can leave the spirit on the JD wood chunks up to 8-10 weeks the result is exceptional and
(2) before adding the JD chunks to your spirit you should rinse them thoroughly to get rid on sawdust and ash powder. I use a big sieve and run loads of water over them. This makes for a cleaner end product.
Good luck with them

Be carefull with the Glengourmet chips I tried some of those and the end result was disgusting and only got worse the longer the spirit was soaking on them,so would suggest only soaking a very small ammount of spirit on them for a start.The rest of my bag,well it got used up as intended on the barbeque.

That's looking really good Alan.
I normally use much more wood than you have in that jar to get that colour and the right flavours in a shorter time - 3-5 days - and I've been thinking recently I should use less wood and more time as I'm not in a rush these days - plenty of stock in hand.
It's just a bad habit that's developed over time.
