brown saddles

the saddles are getting a bit brown so whats the best thing to clean them with?

I stuck mine in a pan and boiled them up for a bit on the hob, worked fine!

Hi al Merry Christmas, i would give them a soak in citric acid dont know if it will work but dont think it can do any harm

I use denture cleaning steradent but not sure if you get them in UK.
I place 2 tabs in a bowl, drop the saddles on top then add enough boiling water to cover the saddles and a bit.
Leave them over night and they look as good as new, just rinse in fresh water and use.

For the copper I just soak in lemon juice over night.

Citric acid from the Asian food shop is cheaper than lemons in the uk.
I have used hydrogen peroxide on the saddles before with good success, non toxic after a few hours.

If your not careful when mixing your own citric acid and make it too strong it will etch the copper.

Overnight boots denture cleaner and a boil in pan and saddles look like new
Likewise copper ones in lemon juice and coke
Used a demijohn brush for inside of column all seemed well. Now for vodka star ;D
