Hi.
I've been following the guides on here and am really happy with my results.
I just want to ask a question out of curiosity.
On my last batch I didn't take enough of a heads cut and this was evident when tasting the spirit,
Wasn't too bad but there was a heat there.
Now my question is.
Has anyone actually drank spirit from the airstill done the wineworks way?
If so what was it like? I can only imagine it must be like lava seeing as all the heads would be in there.
I didn't get the chance to try it like that as I found this site in time.

I used to do something similar. Single run but with a 300w light dimmer as power controller set to give half power. 50ml of fores junked then collect 700ml. (In retrospect, should have been less as a little bit of tails were present.)
Then I tried double distilling and stuck to that.
In some ways I preferred the single run product. Obviously less pure but the heads added a certain something. Sort of a whiskeyish vodka. Downside was that there was a price to pay the next morning after hammering it. Nowhere near as bad as hammering whiskey but there all the same.

I did it that way once or twice before I found Aidan's post here. That was a couple years ago now so I don't really recall what it was like. I do recall thinking that it was not very good. And I certainly recall the headaches! I was used to drinking Wild Turkey Bourbon then which has a lot of heads so maybe I was used to it. I can't stand the stuff now.
