No that would not make a lot of difference to your bill,I seem to remember that the airstill is 350 watts. It is quite easy to work out what an electrical appliance uses.
wattage x unit price of electricty/1000 so say you are paying 18p per kilowatt hour.
350x18/1000=6.3p per hour to run

Think from memory it's 320w, but other than that optic is spot on. Besides, I'll bet you any money that your leccy is cheaper than your booze so you'll win overall anyway! I had a similar conversation with a friend who asked about the T500 cooling water going down the drain and said 'and you're on a water meter, you're throwing your money away' - needless to say, ten bottles of grog for a couple of quids worth of water is a fair deal in my opinion!

Does raise an interesting question though - anyone got one of those power monitor thingybobs? If so, stick it on next time you run your still (AirStill or T500, both would be interesting) and let's get some figures!

I've got one Jimmy - my T500 boiler draws around 1850w and not the 2Kw stated.

Even so its only a few quid for a 12hour spirit run - I actually dial the power down after the initial warm up so run 550w heads removal and 1450w for hearts.

On the water front, 1 full tank of water from your hot water cylinder (assuming its about a meter tall and 50cm wide) contains about 140 litres at a cost of 8p or thereabout.

how much water does your T500 use?
