HI all the dextrose 5kg/ vodka star / no carbon is ready and stopped bubbling giving a reading on the hydrom of 2 lines above red marker (im guessing thats 990 -980)
it smells soooo much better than the one with sugar and carbon paste!!

ive added the two part clear SS and now the wash is looking pink cloudy with a layer o white at botom of bucket... im expecting it to be real clear as its nearing the 24hr mark and im not sure whether i should give it more time or rack off for strip run ?? any suggestions guys ?

is the pink colour even normal ??

Back in the days that I added finings to settle a wash, pink to yellow was normal,usually depending upon wash, Ph, the stage of the moon, R in the month.
You get my drift?
Normal is never normal, there will be variations.
I will say that if you have spent the money on a two sachet finings, let it do it's job.
If you can clearly see the trub at the bottom, it is clear and ready to run.

And then try without.
See if you can taste a difference.

Yes indeed. Quite within the realms of normal. Taste it, smell it, get used to what happens.

psml the answers to this post are as expected .. ill run the strip quite soon as its not clearing to well and i cant see the bottom of the tub ... maybe its another of those experiment situations ... obvs that many here have suffered

hi guys still clearing.. the lower half of wash is pinkish and the top half is clearing.. two days clearing is longer than the last wash.. so i guess ive got to wait some more.. cannot see the bottom yet

Have you tried turning it upside down?

Trying to ignore what packapoo said above,which did make me LOL, the time has come methinks for you to rack and strip.
As you are running an airstill, start with the top 4 litres,
I cannot guess at your available time, but it should take you a while to get to the murkier section of the wash.

Although it made me smile I wasn't sure if you were joking or had a serious point. About using the lees to clear the brew.

His last words were that he couldn't see the bottom....It seemed the easiest way......
