Hi all, new here but glad I found this site.

I have been perusing this forum for the past few months and have found it to be a great place to start out. First of all the folks here are extremely helpful in providing the best advice a novice distiller could ever want.
Second if you are unsure of anything related to this fine craft then I am sure someone will be able to help out in a few minutes.
I have browsed a few other related sites and found that the answers to questions that i wanted came up fast and even better, when I tried the results were great.
All I can say is, this forum provides very good advice from folks willing to give great hints .
I am glad I stumbled upon this site, my liquors are becoming better and better,, CHEERS MATES

hi im everyone im researching a few things just before I start to make a mash Im just wondering if there is a guide for all the abbreviations as when im reading through a few of the recipes im getting confused about sg readings and all that just wondering there is anything that can help me with this

I'm new to the forum and have a little knowledge with distilling, I've been doing it for just over a year.

I run a pot still with a liebig condenser and have made vodka, whiskey from cornflakes and rum from molasses.

I've been looking for a UK forum for ages because the recipes will be made with produce that is readily available in this country.

It's things like Cracked Corn, Sweet Feed and Black strap, we can't get hold of. It's sometimes frustrating.

Not new to brewing and distilling,built my first pot still 25 years ago,before information was freely available on the interweb.
Recently went with a Smart still,for various reasons.
Discovered this site, and have spent the last week reading,I think,every post.
I tip my hat to various members,aidanmac,john51 and Mozr stand out,if not always agreed with.
A big thanks to Jimmy for making it possible.My first action after registering was a modest donation towards the server.
I hope in time to have something worth contributing and useful to other members.
My next task is scooting over to the Aging and Flavouring topic,as the thread on Nuclear whiskey by Fully Silenced has made my day,week and possibly year.And for me doesn't even involve JD BBQ chips!

Have already posted on the recipe site seeking advise after a screw up on my part.

Currently living in Nova Scotia and using a pot still (Air Still) ..... naughty of course ..... but only if I get caught Have done loads of runs with my still using Mozr/Aidenmac's advise. Looking to move to a 'proper' still one day when I have grown up and learned how to do it properly from all the experts

The Airstill's your only man for learning in manageable bites. I still use mine to this day.

Welcome from the Left Coast! I also run an AirStill. As Aidan said, not the perfect still but a good learning tool and very useful for things like test batches. I am still learning.

Hello everyone who reads this post! I originally became interested in distilling because my girlfriends father is an old school country man with roots in KY. He gets jars of great tasting whiskey from some of his relatives every once in a while , and I think It would be great to be able to make some for my friends and relatives.

Anywho , I have read through some of the posts and recipes and to be honest it is a little overwhelming! I was wondering if there were any starting guides / recommendations for a good distiller / easy beginner recipes .

I have no equipment yet but am open to any suggestions. I have a small apartment so something compact would be the best!
