PET plastic bottles
Curiosity and sorry if its been discussed previously but has any one used these or similar for storage of 40% (with a view of imminent consumption not long term !)

Re: PET plastic bottles
Personally I wouldn’t. Don’t have any scientific evidence or anything, but commercial spirits would be sold in PET if it was safe. After all we see beer sold in PET, but I’ve never seen spirits for sale in PET

Rather have a full bottle in front of me

Re: PET plastic bottles
This is a real can of worms!
Lots of duty free spirits are sold in PET these days.
Plastic science is complex.
The inside of bottles can have a layer or two sprayed on, specifically for the contents originally intended.
Such science and appliance is the reason that even "plastic" water bottles should not be re-used, even for water.
I looked into this in great depth a few years ago, and decided that life was simpler to stick with glass.
That said, part of my process for making Something Comforting involves saving the dregs of the last batch, to settle, to use in the next, and I do this in a PET bottle.
I figure that there is/are only so many chemical components that can leach from the plastic.
Life is a bagatelle.
Duty of care is a wall bandied phrase.
If you lived by the rules then you wouldn't be reading this...
Make an informed decision and stay safe.
Robert.

I was just about to mention the duty free bottles,
I think I'll stick with glass just in case.

I know what you mean about labels. Recently discovered how good stainless scrubbies are, after an overnight soak.

I’ve found the really sticky label glue responds best to SS scrubbers and plenty of dishwashing liquid which dissolves it

Was that meant to read "inexpensive"! i.e. recycled.
I sometimes resort to a swipe of a "thinners" doused rag to remove the last of label goo.
It never fails.
