Today I took delivery of my 2 x 25kg sacks of the Glenesk, heavy peated (50ppm), crushed grain.
It smells glorious!

Started to clean all equipment ready for mashing and fermenting.

Hi Toper
Have fun mashing and fermenting those bad boys, i mashed my sack last Sunday and both washes had fermented dry by Thursday, I’ve switched of the heater now, let them clear a little.
I was going to go for neutral, but having Invested such time and money already, I thinking I’m going to try my hand at Whisky, however I have no feints to start with, so maybe I’ll take a middle cut for neutral and save everything else as feints for a proper attempt at Whisky.
I wanted to strip them today but been too busy, also I had to get to Aberdeen for Monday morning and didn’t fancy driving over 300miles on Monday morning, so I’m stopping the night in Stirling, just about got here before midnight!!

I have had a feints jar running for years, and the spirit just gets better, each use.
And next time you come this way give me notice, you are staying 5 miles away from my home, it would be good to catch up FTF.
And if you can slum it, I can provide somewhere to sleep

Hi Robert
Will do that, it was very last minute my trip to Stirling, it actually crossed my mind to send you a message but decided there would be no time, I could not decide if I should leave mid afternoon and go straight to Aberdeen, or to go later and stay in either Perth or Stirling, I’m the end I went for the latter, it still took me another 3 hours to get Aberdeen this morning,
My hotels just around the corner from BrewDog Aberdeen, I’m so tempted to go for a pint or two but trying to be good!!
If I get held up tomorrow, depending on how my job goes, I might end up staying in Stirling on the way back too, nothing worse than facing a 330 mile drive late in the afternoon!

Tonight I was so tempted to start a " What I did Yesterday" thread, as I usually post so late at night, that it is usually the next day. But bite my lip, and I may get this tapped out before a " What I did the day before Yesterday" thread is called for.
I cleaned out the fridge.
Found a bottle of at least 3 year old Advocaat.
This recipe
viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2540&p=15233&hilit=advocaat#p15233Deal with it I said.#Drink it I said.
Poured a generous double and enjoyed it.
It tasted right.
Today, nearly tomorrow, I have noticed no ill effects.
The neutral used has done it's job in preserving the egg yolks.
I am just about to try it again

.....

Apart from being a little high in calories, what better way to deal with the current glut of eggs?
Robert.

Muppet

So easily done. Hope your world is still decimal and it heals up good. Arnica will really help.
I made salami yesterday, and I am always reminded of a mates young lad, you caught his hand in a mincer.
So quickly it goes so wrong.
