Have you ever been bought or been given brewing equipment that you thought would be great but failed miserably when you got to use them.

Grape and apple crushers regularly offended me with either poor performance or terrible output.

Good thread. On other sites I can imagine a lot of whining about smart/airstills but I've been delighted with mine. I've learned a lot from it's flaws but thanks to running advice here have got some very decent spirits from it.

Slight reversal of thread topic, but I've been pleasantly surprised by vodka star yeast.

OK, here goes "I was disappointed by the knoe it alls on homedistiller.org that still tell the newbies off for querying bogus advice some 6 years after the parent site and threads they refer newbies to are out of date and tell them to read more before they dare ask a question"
