SSR 25VA controller.
Hi. I'm thinking about buying an SSR-25VA to make a new controller for the "bok". My cheap and cheerful light dimmer/triac combination decided to go tits, half way through a run! Had to rush out and buy another dimmer, and re-equilibrate, pain the proverbial. I know a few of you are using the SSR-25, just like to know if there have been any reliability issues?
I will buy one with a large heatsink, and probably add some fan cooling.
Cheers.

No one is completely useless, they can always serve as a bad example.

Re: SSR 25VA controller.
I bought this kit, it has a very thick heat sink built on, and because it will take up to 40 amps it's only ticking over on a 3Kw element so it doesn't even get hot.
As it also includes the Pot + knob + adhesive dial gauge it saves finding matching bits.
I have only used it for approx 10 runs, so I cannot give any long term report, but because as I said it runs cool I don't foresee any problems.

Always give the hardest job to the laziest person because they will always find the easiest way to do it.

Just curious vino-tinto. How did the final price including tax etc compare to getting an equivalent set in the UK from somewhere like RS?

RS components want £45.00 for the relay without heatsink!!
Or, you can buy this:

I've bought stuff from HK via Ebay, never a problem, and not had to pay duty etc. Only thing is, you have to wait a week or two.

I believe if the item is under £17 then there is no duty to be charged. I've ordered all my SSRs from sourcingmap in china, and never paid any duty.

I have been using this seller on Ebay for over 6 years now, ever since they closed the last electronics shop where I live. I have never paid any taxes or duty on anything I have bought from him and he has always given me excellent service.
