Whiskey drinkers, what's in...

...your drinks cabinet? Whilst we are all striving towards our own little slice of perfection I know most of us still partake in the commercial product as well as our own. Right now I have some Auchentoshan American barrel, Aberlour 10 years and the stock bottles of glenmorangie & laphroaig which i get twitchy if I don't have in the house.
If I had endless free time & money I would definitely have problems with the last 2, they go down way too easy. The Aberlour is a little zingy for my liking, comes in handy for when certain relatives enquire as to what single malts are in stock. The auchentoshan is good though, mellow & smooth.
There is also a four roses & jack daniels, although to be honest I'm slowly going off bourbons. As a 20 something I'd have drank it from the bottle all weekend like some kind of idiot but nowadays it has to go with some coke for it to be passable.
So what glorious golden liquid lives in your cupboard?

Jack Daniels for me. A golden nectar that cannot be surpassed.

I bought the honey one too but nope, nothing will ever beat my JD

Straight or mixed, seagull? The jd honey I put in a similar bracket as southern comfort, I liked it but being so sweet I had to be in the right mood. The bit of extra sugar with the slightly lower abv & I find myself drinking much faster than normal, can be dangerous!

A couple of local gins and not much else. Once in a while I will pick up a bottle of Bourbon or Scotch or Irish, but not often these days. Mostly I am happy with what I make (gin, JD chips "cheap seats" whiskey, vodka, dark rum, and the odd "mostly grain" whiskey). Some days I think that I should just drink commercial things as I could not afford to drink as much as I do. It might be healthier. Or I would go broke...

The ubiquitous Aberlour, a dubious contribution from Aldi, and what's left of a Talisker Storm I was given at Christmas.

Cheers

Usually mixed with coke but on the odd occasion, straight over ice. A glass of JD straight takes me a long time to drink.

Absolutely nothing in. I haven't bought any for many years - partly because I don't need too and partly because a few decades ago I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time and got to taste a number of very good "brandies" - actually the person who gave me the tastes was explaining the difference between cognac and armagnac.

It confirmed to me that of the two, I much prefer armagnac. Though that's created a problem, that I now have a penchant for tastes outside my price range.

I've been happy with making neutral and then using flavourings for the most part, but I've yet to find any of the various makes of flavourings that could match my taste (or maybe just the memory of that taste). Sure, there's plenty of brandy type flavours available that are fine if drunk with a mixer, but so far I haven't tasted one that is good when drunk straight.........

Hey ho, I'll just keep looking and tasting :D

I'm not a big whisky fan, but I'm looking forward to tasting the SS Classic Irish that arrived yesterday (from Ellie-Claire's thread from last year, or was it the year before)..........

I never found ANY extract flavouring that was good enough to be drunk without mixing. Stopped looking a long time ago.
